Home Inspections
June 11th, 2009 6:24 AM

When we are buying a "used car", we normally take it to our trusted local mechanic to check it out.  That gives us the confidence to move forward with the purchase.  When buying a home, we want to do the same thing with a professional home inspector.

Using the same example, would you take your used car to someone who knows nothing about motors?  Of course you wouldn't!  I have seen too many times when home buyer's will take their cousin or uncle to go "inspect" the house.

With this in mind the cousin inspector (for the purpose of this example neither the uncle or the cousin is a state licensed home inspector) can give the buyer false information...VERY false information.

The buyer could in fact move forward with the purchase and later find some major things wrong with the house!  Bad news!

On the flip side, the uncle can "inspect" the house  say (unlicensed again) the house is in not  good order.  The poor buyer has just lost total confidence in the house.  And will not buy. And "perhaps" there is actually nothing wrong with the property....and the buyer will never know because a professional home inspector was never called!

Another good example...going on a diet!  When you go on a diet...EVERYONE tells you what to eat or not to eat...right?

Same thing...we need to leave it to the professionals. I just hate to see a home buyer make a decision on wrong information.

Until next time....

Buyer's Market
June 2nd, 2009 2:31 PM

It's a great time to buy real estate!  I tell all of my friends, "you should be buying houses by the dozen!" Many people are scared to dive in for many different reasons.  Generally speaking...when is the best time to buy "anything"?

When it's on sale!  The first step is to get pre-qualified with a reputable lender.  One of the best in this area is Kathy Woolam.  She owns the Mortgage Market.  Call Kathy today at 956-778-0578 for no cost no obligation pre-qualification.

You can always reach me directly at 956-793-3336 or email me at arnold@arnoldcelis.com for a quicker response to any of your questions.

Have a great day!
